Great stop to see the 1000s year old salt flats area. Amazing to see such a natural area and outcome and result of Lake Bonneville being drained. Enough people to get an idea of the vastness. The salt is heavy and a little wet. It's hard to the touch, but like a stiff balm. What a joy to see this type of natural outcome.

A perennial favorite. The bathrooms could be better maintained. When o stopped by the men's restroom was closed for maintenance but no one was working in there. The salt flats are fun to walk on and stretch your legs. Nothing like it!

Stopped my truck here last December and discovered that the waterline had collected piles of the purest white salt, like sand on the beach. I scooped some of it up and dried it out and it tasted better than the most gourmet salt. A perfect Christmas present for my mom. If anyone is wondering about the safety, consider that there’s a Morton salt plant just a few miles east of here.

We went at the end of October with three under four and three adults. It was fun to walk out into the shallow water, though water shoes would have made it much more enjoyable. Rain boots worked for the oldest toddler, though they are now extra stiff (same for any shoes that got wet and couldn't be thoroughly washed after). Definitely make this trip on a full tank of coming from salt lake City. The high wind made our half tank disappear faster than usual, and we made it to the gas station in wendover with maybe a mile to spare.

This is a unique rest stop. Where else in the world can you pull over, rest your area, and look at miles and miles of salt framed by mountains on the horizon?
